Terms of use

Patina Studio is free to use during its public beta. These terms are short on purpose: they describe what you can expect from us, and the few things we ask in return.

Last updated 29 August 2026

What you get

A licence to download, install and use Patina Studio, for anything you like, personal or commercial, for as long as the beta lasts. There is no account, no seat count and no fee. You keep everything you make with it, entirely and without qualification.

This is a public beta

Studio is early software and it behaves like early software. Expect bugs, rough edges and occasional failures. Features will change, some will be replaced, and document formats may move as the tool matures — we migrate your work forward where we can. For anything you would be sorry to lose, keep an export.

Professional work

We are not recommending Studio for client deadlines or production work yet. It is powerful and it is not yet seasoned. Use it to explore, to prototype, and to tell us where it breaks — that is exactly what a beta is for, and it is the fastest way to make it ready.

Your work stays yours, and stays with you

Documents live on your machine. Nothing is uploaded, there is no cloud and there is no account. If you connect your own OpenAI key to use the assistant, that key is held by your operating system and your prompts go to OpenAI under their terms, not ours. The rest of Studio works with no key and no network.

What we collect

This website records ordinary web-server requests with the visitor's address truncated before it is written, so the record is not personal. There are no cookies and nothing to consent to. Studio itself sends nothing unless you explicitly turn it on, and it never sends the contents of your documents.

Installing on macOS

Builds are signed with an individual Apple developer identity rather than an organisation's, so on first launch macOS asks you to confirm you meant to open it. That is the expected path for independent software, and the download page walks through it. The application is not modified after signing.

Price, one day

Pricing, plans and the business model are genuinely not decided yet. When they are, we will say so clearly and in advance. Nothing here creates an obligation to pay for anything, and no future price applies to a version you already have.

Warranty, plainly

Because Studio is free, early and unsupported, it is provided as it is, without warranty, and we are not liable for loss arising from its use. Where the law gives you rights that cannot be set aside — including consumer rights in your own country — those rights stand, and nothing here reduces them.

Getting in touch

Issues, questions and disagreements are welcome in the public repository. If something here reads as unclear or unfair, say so and we will fix the wording.
